Mars-like planets have reddish atmospheres. Additionally, trees made of Wood blocks and Foliage blocks are often found on these planets. Their surface is mostly covered with "Dirt Grass Planet Terrain" blocks and "Rock Grass Planet Terrain" blocks.
Earth-like planets have blue atmospheres. Purple planets have green atmospheres, and the surface is mostly composed of "Purple Vine Stuff" blocks, "Purple Top Stuff" blocks and "Purple Rock Stuff" blocks. A notable feature is that they are covered in massive tentacles of "Purple Vine Stuff" blocks, which also feature a coating of "Purple Top Stuff" blocks. Desert planets also have blue atmospheres. Cactus blocks are found on the surface, and these planets are covered in Sand blocks. They are covered in "Ice Planet Surface" blocks and "Ice Planet Rock" blocks. They are notable for their unique glowing "Ice Crystal" blocks, which are found under large spire-like terrain structures. You could get the same mining speed with cannon slaves but the barrels would all have to be like 10 times longer which was too big for my ship.Each planet falls into a certain category of planet, for example, Ice Planet or Desert Planet. If I fire them one at a time I can mine non stop just like if you use cannon slaves. The reason I have 2 arrays is that with pulse I get 15 second beams with a 30 second cool down.
It uses way more power but mines much faster. The setup I use has 2 arrays of salvage cannons 25x25x20 in a checkerboard pattern one in front of the other. Most people aim for wide arrays with 10-20 blocks per cannon. A single cannon with 100 blocks is technically faster than 50 cannons with 2 blocks each. When you add the 4th cannon you make it 33% bigger and so on it goes. When you add the third block you've only made it 50% bigger and so it still mines faster but the increase is less than before. When you increase a salvage cannon from 1 block to 2 you've made it twice as big and so you notice a big increase in mining speed. Slap a faction block on the ground, declare it your home base. That will usually set you up with enough credits that you don't need to worry about fees for basic stations and the like.Įdit: oh also, dont worry about your first base being in a planet. When I'm done building a mass-salvager like I describe, I usually have a refinery with some 10k enhancer blocks for fast refines. In the process of building up a salvager like I describe, you'll want to be making a refinery/factory rig capable of processing all that. That gives you something crazy like a 12x mining bonus in system IIRC.ĭon't forget to use Factory Enhancers on your refineries, and shift/ctrl-k (or whatever the mass link button is) will be a good friend. Also, dont forget to find a system you can claim with a faction block to mine. Once you have the 16k wish salvager, it becomes easyish to mine out whole planets, assuming you don't get pirated along the way. Finally, I use that to make a 16-32k salvage block planet eater, with some cannons linked to the salvager for faster cycle time, and an appropriately large amount of power.Īll that you can do on any planet pretty much. What I do is I work to a 1k beam block block salvager ASAP, then I use that to make a 4-8k salvager. The thing that you don't see is that if you're mass mining you will end up with a ridiculous volume of the carvable source material, and that only has two uses: NPC money faucets, and making paint for coloring things or manufacturing colored hulk/armor. Shop I'm at gives 1cr/Crystal and I read that this was changed intentionally. I check out the guides and they all say Cacti and Ice Crystals.
